NON HOMOGENOUS BLADES

Wind turbines are used more and more to participate in the energy transition of countries. However, their operating range is limited depending on windy conditions, which could jeopardize the viability of certain projects.

The technology developed makes it possible to respond to this problem. The researchers have developed a process that allows, depending on the wind turbine installation conditions, to select the most suitable material. The latter will deform according to the chord under the force of the wind and the centrifugal force to optimize the efficiency and the operating range of the wind turbine, while ensuring its proper functioning in the face of strong winds.

PATCH-ANTENNA FOR ENHANCED QWIP (QUANTUM WELL INFRARED PHOTODETECTOR) PERFORMANCES

The technology developed by the laboratory aims to provide infrared detectors in double-metal patch geometry. In this type of geometry, the absorbing zone is inserted between two metal layers, which form a microcavity that can also act as an antenna for infrared radiation. This geometry allows an increased responsiveness and a significant reduction of the detector’s dark current. In addition, the technology has a very high operating temperature limit compared to competing solutions, ease of production and high spatial uniformity.

SMART RÉA

A lack of anesthesia exposes the patient to awakening during surgery; conversely, an excess of anesthesia increases the risk of postoperative cardiac and neurological complications. A precise optimization of the depth of anesthesia must therefore be sought, in particular for fragile, elderly or co-morbid patients. Our system takes into account the data from the usual monitoring of patients and by integrating them at a high frequency during general anesthesia, allows to deduce the depth of anesthesia. In an alternative model, we propose to add the analysis results of an EEG channel to the model to significantly increase the accuracy of the prediction.

ORGANIC MOLECULAR MATERIALS REFLECTING IN THE VISIBLE - NEAR INFRARED SPECTRAL RANGE

This technology is based on the design of molecular, organic pigments, able to self-organize into non-conducting materials with reflective properties in the visible and near-infrared spectral range. These excitonic organic mirror materials can be exploited for either aesthetic or technical applications. They constitute a green and sustainable alternative to conventional metal-based mirror materials.

NANOCURE

98 % of the human population is chronically infected by EBV. We propose an innovative platform for engineering immunogenic bi-modular fusion proteins comprising a binding moiety and an EBV antigen to redirect an EBV pre-existing immune response towards a select cellular target. The aim is to develop efficient therapies triggering immune mechanisms such as Complement-Dependent Cytotoxicity (CDC), Antibody-Dependent Cell-mediated Cytotoxicity (ADCC) and Antibody- Dependent Phagocytosis (ADP) to combat pathogens or treat pathologies such as cancer.

BIOSENSOR FOR NON-INVASIVE EX VIVO SKIN

The sensory properties of cosmetic products are crucial in the development of skincare and makeup products. The use of a panel of testers can only be done after a long period of non-toxicity tests and requires significant financial resources which in the end will give a subjective and unscientific opinion.

The project presented allows to follow in real time the effect of care products, make-up on the skin thanks to a sensor.

DYNAMIC AND COLLABORATIVE WIRELESS NETWORK ARCHITECTURE FOR INTERNET OF MOBILES THINGS (IOMT)

The development of communication protocols between mobile connected objects ( like vehicles) and the establishment of 5G have enabled the emergence of several applications such as the connected and autonomous car. Several communicating cars can form a so-called vehicular network where communication is not limited solely to exchanges between cars (V2V) but can also be established with infrastructure (V2I), or even pedestrians (V2P). However, in the connected vehicle industry, communication capacity between vehicles and storage capacity are limited. In addition, the traffic load in this type of network is heavy. BadZak technology respond to these limitations. BadZak scans available networks and terminals On-the-fly in order to provide the fastest, most reliable and resource-efficient connection.

PARTICLES MICRO-ANALYSER

The invention is an instrument measuring the concentration of fine particles in the air. It consists of an aerodynamic stage screening device directing aerosol particles according to their mass to microbalances. The choice of this instrumentation is in accordance with the standard procedures used in the field of aerosol measurement to evaluate indoor air quality. The desire to target aerosols of biological origin such as microfungi is linked to health issues, as these microbes cause allergies. Real-time and continuous monitoring of the presence of particulate matter in the air will allow more accurate analysis of outdoor and indoor air quality.

AIR QUALITY AND GAZ MONITORING SYSTEM

Chromatographs are usually bulky and expensive equipments, while micro air quality analyzers usually provide unprecise or biased measurements. Our micro-chromatograph is designed to discriminate a whole range of different gazes with low detection levels, thanks to cutting-edge silicium-based hardware and smart signal processing algorithms. The signal- noise ratio can optionnally be increased using stochastic injection.

The whole system including pumps and electrovalves is the size of a smartphone, but the core of the silicium-based system is as small as a coin. Furthermore, the system can be tuned to analyze multiple gazes from different rooms or different environments, such as outdoor and indoor air, in a simultaneous manner.

AIR AND WATER DEPOLLUTION IN CIVIL ENGINEERING

The invention presents a direct growth method of ZnO nanowires on civil engineering elements intended for photocatalysis for water and/or air depollution. Due to their high surface-to-volume ratio, ZnO nanowires showed excellent efficiency in the decomposition of tested dyes (AR14, MB, and MO) into less harmful products such as CO₂ , H₂O, NO³⁻, or SO₄²⁻ via a photocatalytic-induced mineralization process.

The civil engineering element coated with ZnO nanowires on its rough surface produced with this method can be integrated for instance in the development of the 5th-generation (5G) road, public garden, or in new buildings/houses. Smartly designed with new and possibly bio-based materials, 5th generation plans to make smarter roads in the near future will integrate numerous technologies including an environment depollution function. The photocatalysis process is a promising emerging solution for this aim, as it is a cheap and fast solution to degrade toxic organic compounds into harmless products. With the present invention, the photocatalysis process can be incorporated into our everyday life. Thus, incorporating metal oxide semiconductors (photocatalysts) onto civil engineering materials is a smart way to achieve this goal, as they are known to perform photocatalysis under ultraviolet lighting, or even under visible lighting with doped photocatalysts.

RAPDYS (IMPROVE READING WITH BETTER SPEECH PERCEPTION)

Dyslexia is a specific learning disability that affects about 7% of the population and in particular 200 000 children between ages 6 and 11 in France.

Children with specific language impairment (SLI) have difficulties in several aspects of language, including phonology, morphology and syntax, despite normal intelligence, adequate hearing, normal learning opportunities and the absence of any neurological or psychiatric trouble.

RapDys are gamelike exercises based on carefully chosen and tested voicing continua. They can be done under the supervision of a speech and language therapist and further on at home.

COLLOIDAL SERS SUBSTRATE

Every type of molecule has a distinct «Raman signature» that can be enhanced by special surfaces called SERS substrates, standing for “Surface Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy”. SERS techniques are useful to detect molecules at very small concentrations (pico or femtomoles per litre). The SERS substrate can either be generic or designed for special applications, such as trace detection of explosives, drugs or pollutants.

Common techniques to produce SERS substrates involve lithography processes, and are thus rather costly. On top of that, measures lack of reproducibility. Our invention is based on a bottom-up colloidal synthesis, as the substrate results of the self-organization of metallic nanorods. Measures are more reproducible and reliable than most commercial substrates with far less variability, hence allowing a better ability to discriminate and to detect traces (see picture).

Everything is accelerating.
